Jared Sklar - His Motivating Story

I recently heard a story that super motivated me and I wanted to share it with you too. One of my huge motivators is to help more men get fit and support their wives in their health journey as well. Many women have a high value for health and fitness but when I ask guys if they could become an expert at one are of their lives: Finances, Relationships, Fitness or Spirituality. Nine times out of ten men will say Finances. We seem to have a higher value for money than health! So when I hear a story that motivates me as a man I soooo want to share it.

At Coach Summit this year, I heard Jared do a speech and I was blown away. I knew he was a bike instructor and he is obviously in great shape. You see, I have been doing the fitness bike workouts for about a year now on and off. I saw that Jared was an instructor but for whatever reason his classes did not speak to me. I seem to prefer the pretty ladies that are spunky and fun on the bikes.

His Speech changed my mind! I don’t have a link for his Summit speech :0(. You can only see those speeches at Summit. It is one of the reasons that it is so important to go. I am sure he can tell the story better than me. If I can ever find a link to that speech I promise to post it here. Until then you can get the basics of his story here:
Jared's Health Journey

My take away from his speech is that he was overweight, like 110 lbs overweight! The version of the story above doesn’t cover that he had a small injury from playing football with his buddies on a weekly game basis. He was so depressed about not being able to play ball with his buddies, that he did what ever the doctor said was need to get back to football shape. The doctor said he needed time to heal and he need to loose weight. The doctor also recommended 45 mins of cardio a day. Since he was injured there were limited exercises that he could do, but he was able to bike. Even though the idea of indoor bike classes was silly to him, he committed to get to it. He memorized the local bike studio hours, and made sure he did at least a 45 min class everyday.

In a month he lost like 30 lbs.

In six months he lost 100 lbs!

Because of his progress and enjoyment of the classes he once laughed at, he eventually became a trainer. Now he is a Star trainer at Beachbody.

Because of hearing this story I was also inspired to further commit to my own health journey. It is one of those things like, if he did it then I can do it too. So for the last month or so I have committed to 45 mins of biking a day. First, while I was in Europe it was at a local spin studio. Now that I am back at home and opening up a new gym here at Fit-Lab.us, I am doing the workouts each morning at the gym. I typically schedule a BODi Live workout (if available) at 7 AM. Then the morning of each workout I get up early at 6:15 am so I can jump in the shower and get to the Fit-Lab on time to set up the area and welcome any guests that come to participate.

It always feels good at 8 AM to have completed 45 mins of sweating. I tend to have more energy and think clearer after a quick morning workout. It is even more fun when friends join in! You can schedule an appointment for a bike ride below:

So if you need to drop a few pounds, would like some more energy, or just want a more peaceful mind I recommend you give a morning bike ride a try!

It just so happens that now is a great time to start since we are starting the “Tour De Pants” in September:

So that Starts September 5th and if you’re as excited about it as I am well then you are going to have to figure out your bike situation. I did a video where I compare the MYX Fitness Bike V2 from Beachbody with the Peloton. You can see that video here:

If your like me you will prefer the MYX V2 bike. There is instructions in the video on how to order and with 0% financing and payments as low as $25 it makes sense to order that bike now and have it ready to go on Sept 5th!

See you there!
