Christina is my Spirit Animal

Have you ever heard about a personal development class where people go out in the woods inevitably do drugs and find out what Creature embodies their spirit the best?

I’ve heard that story several times before. I am kind of surprised that I was never convinced to do it. It’s hard to think of one spirt animal for me. Sure sometimes I feel like Lion but other times like a hermit crab too.

But most every time I do a bike ride with New Beachbody Super Trainer Christina Lagrega I feel that she uplifts my sprit in the best possible ways!

In every indoor exercise bike video there are only a few variables that you can change to get a poor or a great workout. Pace and Resistance! That is what it all comes down to. When your doing a longer bike workout (over 30 minutes in my opinion) you begin to dread putting more resistance on your bike making it harder to push the pedals. You also dread having to go at a faster pace sometimes up to 110 revolutions per min on the bike wheel!

That is what it was really inspiring when this song cam on and Christina said I don’t want you to worry about speed or resistance and just have fun and dance now. That statement alone gave me new energy and focused me back on what’s really important (to me at least) Being Happy!

It didn’t hurt that it was a favorite song of min from a favorite old movie. Extra credit if you can guess the movie. But I was floating on air for this whole song an then she busted out another motivating truth bomb that seems to speak right to my soul!

Again its was so nice just to be told to have fun but then this message out of what always seems like thin air, OMG sooo very good! Its a great message about taking care of yourself first. Like they always say in the airplane safety speech. Put your mask on first. I believe we all know that on the inside we have to take care of ourselves first. And we often don't do it because we see that everyone else needs us so we often skimp on ourselves. It feel so very supportive and endearing to hear permission to take care of ourselves fist! And she is right if we are not taken care of then we can’t take care of anyone else. We can share love in its best form if we are exhausted. And yes when you live honestly with passion motived by loving and being loved than the world is a better place.

Such as great little motivating speech (while she is going like 95 rpm stand up) and you have to understand how difficult it is to catch these short motivations. I feel that this was maybe the second or third best in this ride. But, you have to just be filming to catch it! There is no warning that she is about to drop a truth bomb. It’s a spontaneous moment. If it’s a live ride you can’t pause the workout. Even if it is a recording you can then pause but you can’t rewind or fast forward because then you might be able to cheat the workout. So it’s so very tricky to cath one of these short motivations on camera!

But if you do a Christina workout every day in the AM like I try to do then you get to hear them all in each workout each day! What a great little gift to get your day started right.

I was lucky enough (because she gave us a warning) to catch 2 of these moments during this workout. This particular day I was struggling for the first 15 mins. Up until this morning I had been doing 30 min workouts and taking a break and ten doing another 1t mins later on after a short break to get 45 min in each day like @Jared Sklar does.

The first 15 mins were a bit of torture knowing that I had another 30 mins to follow (It gets better the more you do longer workouts). Then that song came on and she gave such a nice motivational speech the rest of the workout was gravy!

I recommend that everyone go an watch the last 30 mins of this workout! Even if your don’t bike during it. Just give up one 30 min show this week and see if she motivates you as much as she does me. I feel that we owe it to ourselves to find what inspires us. For me the great messages and upbeat spirit of Christina does that for me. So I recommend that you listen and see if would motivate you to. Your owe it to your self to become the best happiest version of yourself!

As I mentioned before these moments are hard to catch and I missed my favorite one of the day. This one was at the almost very end of the workout and I still appreciated it. What I got from it was to feel my body and heart. Yes we each have one and it takes care of us all day long. It will lasts many decades if we take good care of it. It’s one of the reasons I value health and fitness because I know that if I exercise I can buy more happy years from my body. So I do my best to keep it going strong.

I realize that Christina may not be your jam! My wife thinks that she is a bit EMO for her. And that is fine. No 1 instructor is going to be right for everybody. But Christina and well Jennifer Jacobs really make exercise more enjoyable for me with their upbeat and energetic personalities. Here is what is important to me is that U find your jam too! It might not be Christina! But I can bet that there is an Instructor or a program that you can do every day that will put you in your best mood. For my wife it is one of Shaun’s workouts T25 usually that lights her fire and when she doesn’t have energy for all that she just loves to run on the tread mill first thing in the AM. She agrees that morning exercise really clears your mind and helps you to be more peaceful and think clearer with more efficiency.

Ok so here is my challenge to you!

I mentioned it before. Skip 30 mins of useless minds numbing TV this week and listen to that last 30 mins of Christina’s ride. If you do it on your phone you could be riding a bike outdoors or at the gym. If you know already or find out that is not your spirit animal then try another program.
